Nerlerit Inaat Airport was built in connection with oil exploration activities on the Jameson Land peninsular in the 1980’s. No oil was found, but it was decided to maintain the airport, which is only a 15-minute helicopter flight from Ittoqqortoormiit. The airport is used for scheduled flights from Iceland, but just as many charter flights arrive in connection with expeditions in the area.

As mentioned, Nerlerit Inaat is just an airport, so you won’t find any shops or other significant facilities.
